From August 19th to August 23rd Mario Biagini will conduct a study period, “Words in Silence”, on verbal action in nature, hosted by Omma Studio Theater, at “Theatro ton Agron”, in the Kyparissi village near Heraklion, Crete.It will be an exploration on how we can speak in nature, how can words resonate in the silence. How poetry (in the language of your choice) can awake our sensitivity and our thought.
Omma Studio and friends are organizing this theatrical summer meeting near Kyparissi, 20 km away from Heraklion, in the island of Crete. It is addressed to all kind of performers, to students, and to everyone who wants to live an alternative theatrical experience in nature. No previous experience is required.
The 5-day program will combine the study on poetic words with excursions in the countryside, traditional food, and parallel activities.
“Words in Silence” will take place at Theatro ton Agron (Theater of the Fields), a theatrical space among grapes, overlooking the historic fortress of Roca. Theatro ton Agron has been a cultural center for eighteen years. Built of stone and wood, it is located 20km away from Heraklion, in the valley between the villages of Profitis Ilias and Kyparissi and is surrounded by olive trees and cypresses.
At Theatro ton Agron food will be prepared with local ingredients. The space has been prepared to give hospitality to 15 participants, in big tents equipped with all necessary facilities (big tents of 2-4 persons, beds, hot water, wifi, and more).
Places are limited. The participation fee, 400€, includes food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and lodging in shared rooms in tents, workshop, as well as transportation and entrance to all parallel activities of the program (which include 3 different excursions in Heraklion prefecture, wine tasting in cellar and more).
